Eastwoods Pepper Golf Day 2018

Earlier this month Eastwoods held its 21st annual Pepper Charity Golf Day at Ashridge Golf Club.  17 teams participated in a shotgun start on a lovely, sunny day and the players left the club house after coffee and breakfast with handsets, facilitiated by Adrian from Golf Score Live, allowing them to record their scores as they played.  Scroll down to  the end of page to view all the photos!

Stuart Hall, Golf Pro at Ashridge Club Club took on the Beat the Pro challengers this year and there was also an opportunity for players to compete in nearest the pin and longest drive competitions.  The teams then headed back to the clubhouse to check their positiions on the leaderboard before sitting down to a welcome lunch.

Over coffee, Keith Smith of Eastwoods Butchers gave a short speech and thanked everyone again for taking part before introducing Andrea Lambert, Head of Children's Services, who gave an enlightening presentation on the work of the nursing team.  Andrea shared some examples of the type of issues facing families being cared for by the nursing service, one of which was a moving example of how the team were able to help a family bring their new born infant home from hospital to be cared for for a few precious hours before the child died.  Players were visibly moved by Andrea's words and Keith asked her to pass on everyone's thanks for the amazing work they are doing in the local community.

Keith then led a fast paced auction featuring some exciting prizes including cocktails served by Merlin Griffiths, mixologist on Channel 4's popular tv show First Dates, tickets to West End musical Les Miserables with back stage tour and a 12 person BBQ Spectacular cooked to perfection by Eastwoods of Berkhamsted.

Pepper would like to thank all the generous people and local companies that donated the auction and raffle prizes, or that provided sponsorship for the event. Without your support, the golf day could not take place. Our thanks go also to all the teams that took part on the day.   Eastwoods and Pepper were delighted that over £11,000 was raised on the day, the net proceeds from which will allow us to continue supporting this vital service, to ensure that a child's life can be spent at home and made as comfortable as possible.

Keith Smith handed out prizes to the winning teams who received individual trophies and money vouchers from Eastwoods Butchers and congratulated the winning teams and everyone that had taken part, before bringing the day to a close.

Pepper would like to add its congratulatioins to the winning teams:  1st  Norfolk & Chance,  2nd Team Luther and 3rd Allazo
